To Achieve Peak Performance On The Ride, Meet The Bodies Demands

Jul 20, 2023

When looking to optimise health and performance, there's one question that governs our approach:

Are you meeting the bodies demands?

During BIG rides, riders place huge physiological stresses on the body. Whether this be through significant muscle damage, depletion, dehydration, heightened inflammation...you name it.

Therefore, high performance eating aims to prepare an rider for the anticipated level of stress, the maintenance of performance under this stress, and the recovery from stress to ensure homeostasis is achieved.

Ultimately, the bigger the stress, the bigger the hole you dig yourself into....where optimal performance happens when your physiology is near baseline, and not in a hole.

In this sense, high performance eating aims to reduce the size of the hole and ensure you stay as close to baseline as possible.

...this is achieved by meeting the bodies demands: What you eat, how much you eat and when you eat are critical factors in achieving this.

If you frequently find yourself in a hole from hard training rides and racing...I'd highly suspect it's your eating.
